Counting Down to Singles’ Day 2016

Echoing Jack Ma’s dream of “serving two billion global customers”, Alibaba plays up the “go global” element further in terms of promotion (the “See Now, Buy Now” VR fashion show, the recruitment of a Chief Maimeng Officer and more) and actual scale (opening to markets outside mainland China for the first time) of this year’s Single’s Day festival.

The ecommerce giant kicked off its promotion initiatives way earlier this year with something new as part of the run up to the 24-hour online shopping spree, on top of the usual countdown party that featured US pop star Katy Perry as the event’s “global ambassador” this year.
